Given the importance and prominent role of linear algebra in mathematics and its widespread applications in other sciences, the Iranian Mathematical Society decided to organize the seminar "Linear Algebra and Its Applications."

The Linear Algebra and Its Applications Seminars began in 1995 at Vali-Asr University in Rafsanjan. Four years later, in 1999, the second seminar was hosted by Persian Gulf University. The third seminar took place in 2004 at Shahid Bahonar University in Kerman, followed by the fourth seminar, which was again held at Vali-Asr University. In 2008, the fifth seminar was organized at Mazandaran University.

In 2011, the sixth seminar was held internationally at Arak University. Since then, the seminar has been held biennially under the auspices of the Iranian Mathematical Society, and it is indexed by ISC. The most recent seminar took place in the summer of 2023 at Sahand University of Technology. The thirteenth seminar is scheduled to be held again at Arak University.
